This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) describes activities that are prohibited when using the OSRMRoute Service. It is part of, and incorporated into, our Terms of Service. Capitalized terms have the meaning given in the Terms.
1. Prohibited conduct
You must not, and must not permit anyone to:
- use the Service in violation of any applicable law, regulation or third-party right;
- infringe intellectual property or privacy rights, or use the Service to process personal data unlawfully;
- attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other accounts, or our systems and networks, or probe or scan for vulnerabilities without authorization;
- interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service, including through denial-of-service attacks or excessive automated load;
- circumvent or exceed usage quotas, rate limits, or authentication, including by sharing or rotating keys to evade limits;
- reverse engineer, decompile or attempt to derive source code, except where permitted by law;
- resell, sublicense or provide the Service to third parties except as expressly permitted;
- transmit malware, or use the Service to send spam or unlawful, harmful, harassing or deceptive content.
2. Map data restrictions
Results are derived from OpenStreetMap data licensed under the ODbL. You must not use the Service to systematically extract, scrape or reconstruct a substantial part of the underlying map database, or to create a product that competes with the OpenStreetMap dataset in violation of the ODbL. You must retain the “© OpenStreetMap contributors” attribution when displaying results.
3. Fair use and automated traffic
Automated access is allowed within your plan’s quotas and rate limits. You must design integrations to back off and retry gracefully on HTTP 429 and 5xx responses, cache results where appropriate, and avoid unnecessary or abusive request patterns.
4. Safety-critical use
Outputs are estimates provided for informational purposes. You must not use the Service as the sole basis for navigation, dispatch or other decisions where errors could lead to death, personal injury, or severe environmental or property damage, without appropriate independent verification and safeguards.
5. Enforcement
We may investigate suspected violations and may suspend or terminate access, throttle traffic, or remove content to protect the Service and its users. We may report unlawful activity to the authorities. Serious or repeated violations may result in termination without refund.
6. Reporting abuse
